These papers document the conservation career of Marilyn Kemp Weidner. Included are correspondence, reports, minutes of meetings, articles, trade catalogs, and other business papers. The records cover her private practice as well as her years at the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA) in Philadelphia. Her invention of the moisture chamber/suction table is documented. Other records relate to her membership in various conservation organizations such as the International Institute for Conservation (IIC) and the American Institute for Conservation (AIC). Also documented are her efforts to begin the graduate conservation program in Cooperstown, New York; to train museum employees in proper collection care techniques; and her involvement in a number of other conservation and museum organizations. The collection also includes her reports of treatments performed in her private practice from the late 1950s through the early 21st century. These reports are filed by client name. Typically, the files include a brief description of the piece to be conserved, what work she performed, correspondence, and copies of bills. Sometimes there are photos or slides. Two of her larger clients were Ephrata Cloister and Princeton University. She also worked for other museums and many private clients. The Ephrata files contain scraps of paper and cloth removed from the items which she conserved for that museum. Also included is her accession book, listing treatments by year, and slides of the treatments. The group of slides includes pictures of her moisture chamber/suction table, illustrations of various techniques, and pictures of Mrs. Weidner in various labs.
